Confidence, How Do You Get It?

Believing in yourself is a key ingredient in success. Others cannot boldly believe in you and your capabilities if you cannot muster up a bold belief in yourself. Others will be ready and quick to knock you down. External encouragement is rarely found. The focus in most office and work environments today is negative feedback from all around.

A positive self image and a core belief in yourself will need to come from within. You know yourself. You know what you’ve done. Think of opportunities that you passed over because you were shy, insecure, or lacked confidence. Prepare a written description of how you would respond if given the opportunity again. Concentrate on the successes in your past and build a ‘I can do it’ confidence within yourself. You can do it and YOU need to fake confidence until you can build it from within.

Think of yourself as a product. YOU have to sell YOU by packaging, branding, and advertising your best assets. Trust in your skills and abilities. Try to act more confident than you feel. Don’t let your own lack of confidence hold you back from a great job and a great future.

Push yourself into taking a risk or two. Apply for a position you don’t know if you will get. Nothing is gained without risk. You won’t easily advance if you don’t try. Fake confidence until you feel it building from within. March forward and apply for the positions you want to have. Move forward with persistence and strength and YOU WILL SUCCEED.

There is no doubt that self-esteem lies within the foundation of success. In business these days there is more competition than ever before and basically no such thing as job security – and so there is more pressure placed upon you to work in every way to rise to the top and make everyone else realize your abilities. You have to stand up to get noticed; you cannot just sit back and allow your work to speak for itself.
