It is admittedly a difficult time to be in business. What is required of you in this economy is the ability to ‘put blinders on’ and charge ahead to achieve your goals and objectives.
Despite all the surrounding ‘noise’, your employer, if you are still working, is still paying you. Stay especially focused on results and the ABCs that spell results. We get nervous. We get careless and we stop doing the things that we know we have to do to succeed. Don’t! We spend more time listening to the devastating stories around us and we are captivated by the constant movement of bosses and comrades. Don’t get caught up in it.
It is difficult. I know what you are thinking. You must continue to do the right things, go through the right motions, and side step the conversations and non productive chatter. Results will always be rewarded, always be noticed and always get you food on the table for yourself and your family.
If you are out of work, then your full-time job is to find a job. Find a library, a friend’s house, a church, or other location somewhere where you can go and search for a job 40 hours a week. If you do that with intention and deliberation, I am convinced that you will find work. Convince yourself that you will not, under any circumstances, give up.
You cannot give up. You cannot give up searching, you cannot give up trying, and you cannot give up.
If you are in business development, yes, I agree, things have gotten MUCH harder. In order to achieve in this market you must try harder, do more, and stand out. Be unique in your approaches, add value and ALWAYS think of the other person as your primary concern, not what you need out of the relationship.
Chin up. Stay strong. You can do it.
