| In your job search, your job performance and your attempts at higher positions and titles, attitude is everything. Executives are looking for passionate people with a great attitude. Combine a great attitude with the ability to rebound from criticism or failures and you have a winning combination that will take you very far.
Several of the top companies have told me that they can train skills, but a positive and can-do it attitude is a golden and priceless skill to have/develop.
I wish I had understood that early in my career. I was always trying to get prospective employers to understand my skills and experience – not my attitude and ability to bounce back. Focus a component of your interviews on WHO YOU ARE. Talk about your attitude towards work, risks, failures and successes. Be prepared to focus just as much attention on your attitude as your experience. It just may land you that next job.
